The UCC invited all interested to help us define the vision of the University Catholic Center.

Notes from the October 1st Meeting:
What excites you (in reference to the Powerpoint slides regarding what other campus ministry centers were doing)?
* A&M could do it, so could we.
* Stability (staff)
* More continued education
* Operating in the black, we're not instantly told "no" because it costs money.
* Attitude of abundance.
* Dorm - why not have a Catholic dorm?
* Director of Liturgy - full-time staff for a musician position
* Religious Education for Adults: where, when, space?
* Asking students how did you hear about the UCC?
* Focus groups / student polls
* High School Recruitment
* Dorm Advertisers
* Campus presence
* Faculity relationship
* Facuility outreach
* Leadership training for non-leaders
* Mentoring and discernment group/discussion for everyone- ethical dilemma, etc.
What concerns you?
* Money
* Space
* Student-Resident Community Gap
o Give residents reason during the week
o Adopt-a-Student program
o RCIA Sponsors (Information Session)
o Problematic response: what do you want to start? Or why don't you help with a pre-existence need?
o Resident Programs
o End of reference to "resident community" and student labels
o E-mail lists (database/newsletter/week)
* Community service, food, together
* Three excuses to come to something (service, food, spiritual)
* Organize around professional interests
* How to recruit more?
o How welcoming?
o Faith home for everyone- everyone can come here to have a relationship with God.
o "Would you like more information about what this program does?"
* Resident Member and balance (does the RC grow with student growth)
Good @ UCC:
* Student group (outreach) / communication / energy
* Organized staff
* Strong student leadership -> resident community
* Increase of liturgy ministers
* Comfortable debt
* Social justice outreach (incl State School)

* Retention seems to be higher
* Physical space more inviting
* Outreach activities, line between students and resident community
